Teacher Questionnaire
Why did you choose to be a teacher-librarian?
I fell into it by chance, I was recruited by another librarian who
was going on leave, and i just happened to fall in love with it.
How long have you been a librarian?
Since 2002, eight years of high school and two years at elementary.
Why did you choose Eatonville High School to work at?
Location and opportunity, it was within commuting distance
of my families home and it was the perfect time to move back to high school.
When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a veterinarian
What is your favorite book?
Saxon Tales (series) By Cornwell, Bernard
Do you like fiction or non-fiction more? Why?
Both- I usually read a fiction and non fiction at the same time. I need to be able to escape in a fiction but at the same time keep learning by reading non-fictions.
What is your favorite genre? Why?
Historical Fiction, its like being right there.
Do you like poetry? If so, what is your favorite poet or poem?
Im not a huge fan of poetry, but I do like Walt Whitman.
What is your most memorable moment as a librarian?
I have two: 1 achieving National Board Teaching certification in library media (11/2010), and also hearing form a students mom how much her son or daughter learns from me on a daily basis.
What new things has the library offered to students this year?
We have really focused on supporting the school community with being effective user and producer of information and ideas. One way is by zeroing in on research skills with the Big 6. Additionally, the library was provided and additional $800.00 to boost library materials through a district adoption cycle. We have almost 400 new materials for use!
How long do you plan to be a librarian?
At least the next ten years
Has being a librarian changed your life in any way?
Absolutely, it has opened my eyes to the bigger picture, looking at education as a whole and not just one classroom.
What satisfies you most about your job?
Connectiing people with resources that help them become successful with both school and personal life.
